We value your interest in us and the time you have taken off to learn about Nyagatare secondary school. Nyagatare Secondary School is a government boarding school for boys and Girls. We are located 4 km from the centre of Nyagatare town, the biggest town in Nyagatare District. Nyagatare is a well resourced town and is fun to live in.

The student population has grown from 110, when the school opened in 2000, to over 900 by late 2012. The students are mainly Rwandese and a few Ugandans. The infrastructure has an offices block, a large dining hall, 16 dormitories and 24 classrooms.

Under the steering of Mr Kabare Edward the Headmaster since 2000, the school is now recognized as one of the thirty 'centers of excellence' in Rwanda, specialising in the teaching of math and sciences, modeling good practices in teaching and learning in Nyagatare District, as well as being a GIS (Geographical Information Systems) pilot school. Nyagatare Secondary School is also a training centre for local math and science teachers, who attend seminars and use the school's facilities over the course of the year.
